Should you notice any damage or changes to your jewellery purchased from Rutherford, please bring it to our attention as soon as possible. Our experienced team will examine your jewellery and offer advice on the next steps. After professional assessment by our jewellers, we can provide you with a quote to carry out all necessary repairs.

Custom Design and Remodelling

Working alongside our clients on a custom design or remodelling of a treasured piece is a cherished project for our team. If you have a vision for a custom make, or you’d like to bring new life to jewellery you no longer wear, please make an appointment with one of our team members by phone, email or visiting your nearest store.

An appointment is the perfect way to explore current designs, trends and styles to gain inspiration for your own custom piece. Before attending, it’s best to think carefully about what you are looking for in your custom design. Having an idea of your desired stone colour, stone size, metal type and style will help our team guide you better according to your preferences. At your appointment you will have the opportunity to try on our extensive jewellery range and bounce ideas off our experienced team members.

We have the ability to source a wide variety of natural diamonds, coloured gemstones and pearls. Jewellery can be made using most precious metals, including rose, yellow, white gold and platinum. Your unwanted gold can be resued in the remodelling process to help reduce costs.

Ring Resizing

We can happily assist with resizing beloved rings purchased from Rutherford. To have a ring resized, please visit your nearest store and our experienced team will sit down with you to understand the requirement. We measure your finger and provide our best recommendation.

Jewellery Cleaning and Polishing

For jewellery purchased from Rutherford, we recommend bringing it into your nearest store for a clean and check at least once a year. Along with sparkling up your piece, we will examine that all settings are secure and advise you if routine maintenance is required. Our three stores also stock a range of silver polishing solutions, cloths and jewellery cleaning liquids which can be purchased for home use

Engraving

We offer bespoke laser engraving and traditional hand engraving services. Whether it's a meaningful date, initials, a heartfelt message, or a special symbol, our expert engravers use advanced techniques to ensure your engraving is clear, elegant, and perfectly positioned in your chosen location.

Pearl Re-threading

Precious strands of pearls are threaded by hand on silk cord and are knotted between each pearl for security. We have a talented team of threaders that have mastered the artistry of hand threading pearls. We recommend bringing your strand into one of our stores every twelve months to be checked and re-threaded. We cannot rethread non-precious gemstone strands that were not purchased from Rutherford.

Valuations

Most insurance companies require you to provide an Insurance Replacement Valuation for items over $2,000. It is recommended to update your Valuation Certificate every 5 years to account for the fluctuations in price of precious metals and gemstones. Valuations start from $180.

In the event that you need to make an insurance claim, we can provide written quotes for replacement purposes or for repairs to damaged items.

Selling your Jewellery

As a licensed second-hand dealer, we are happy to have a look at unique antique and estate jewellery in your collection.
